Best Gig – The Rifles

Best Gig – The Rifles

The Rifles have been touring non-stop for quite some time now, but it was when the lads stormed their way onto the stage at London’s Coronet Theatre that really gave them the push to beat the legendary Kings of Leon! Winning the hearts of 65% of music lovers out there, the indie Londoners deservingly won this years Best Live Gig competition.

Best Live Venue – O2 Academy, Brixton

Best Live Venue – O2 Academy, Brixton

The O2 Brixton Academy has seen action from all of our favourites this year! Thanks to events such as the Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal, it’s even had Oasis God Liam Gallagher grace the stage! So it really came as no shock to us when 39% of you guys voted it the Best Live Venue of 2011. Of course, I’m sure the fact that Brixton Academy sells reasonably priced Carling also played a role in the voting!

Best Gig Ticket Website – Crowdsurge.com

Best Gig Ticket Website – Crowdsurge.com

With so much competiton out there in the gig ticketing business, we were really amazed that 58% of you voted Crowdsurge to be the Best Gig Ticket Website! It was no surprise though. I mean c’mon, they are one of the most reliable and friendly ticket companies out there and they always manage to stay contact with you through e-mail.

Best New Live Artist – The Vaccines

Best New Live Artist – The Vaccines

The Vaccines managed to win Best New Live Artist by a whisker after 35% of you voted for them. After growing an army of fans at their beckoning and the absolutely brilliant performances at the Reading Festival and the Manchester Academy last month, their only real competition was Ed Sheeran who came close at 2nd place.

Best Festival – Reading & Leeds

Best Festival – Reading & Leeds

Despite some very stiff competition, it was joint win for Reading and Leeds in the best Best Festival category. Hardly surprising after Muse, Bring Me The Horizon, Enter Shikari and Crystal Castles all made appearances! Is it just me, or do these festivals just keep getting better year after year?

Best Upcoming Festival – Hop Farm

Best Upcoming Festival – Hop Farm

Hop Farm Festival managed to take 1st place in the Best Upcoming Festival category. Being only four years and packed with so much potential, it’s easy to see how the Kent festival managed to bag 49% of your votes – especially after the never-ageing Prince took to the stage this year and performed some much loved MJ covers. So what do you think? Does Hop Farm have what it takes to become the next Reading or Leeds?

Best Festival Performance – Kasabian, IOW

Best Festival Performance – Kasabian, IOW

Who would have thought that Kasabian would have the stage presence to beat the likes of Muse or even Pulp in the Best Festival Performance? Well, clearly you guys and gals did as 41% of you elected the Leicestershire rock Gods to be crowned champions of live music. If that electric performance at the Isle of Wight Festival is anything to go by, then it’s definitely a very deserving first place!

Best Review – Isle of Wight Festival

Best Review – Isle of Wight Festival

In the Review of the Year category, it was live music veteran Adam Parrot that managed to steal your hearts with his absolutely brilliant report on the Isle of Wight Festival. Detailing the each headline act right down to a tee, no one deserved 1st place more than good old Adam!

Contribution to Live Music – XFM

Contribution to Live Music – XFM

XFM managed to impressively give HMV the slip by obtaining 47% of your votes in the Contribution to Live Music category. With an alarming number of XFM listeners growing by the minute, it was only a matter of time before HMV were toppled. We don’t blame you though, their passion for live music truly shows.
