The Stone Roses – Warrington Parr Hall

Parr Hall, Warrington
9.0 10 Excellent

The Legends that are The Stone Roses returned last night. Possibly the best band to come out of Manchester in all time, played their first gig in over 16 years at Warrington Parr Hall. Liam Gallagher, who’s band Beady Eye are to play an intimate show at the very same venue next month, was in attendance and at one point revelled in the chant from the crowd of his name. Also later tweeting ‘Speechless’.

The band rattled through the classics including Sally Cinnamon, Waterfall and opening track I Wanna Be Adored. The finale was set up for Love Spreads.

The band looked the best of friends and bounced off each other all night. Browns vocals are still as powerful as ever and the cheeky banter was in abundance as he kept the crowd entertained all night in this rather remarkable small venue.

No encore tonight, the band just left stage with the words “We’ll be back” but obviously referring to their immanent summer festival appearances and the big one at Heaton Park in June. The gig had been announced last minute and fans were asked to bring along a t-shirt, Heaton park ticket, stone roses CD inlay etc to exchange for a wristband.

The Set

Mersey Paradise
Sally Cinnamon

(Song For My) Sugar Spun Sister
