“There is no plan,” insists Jon Fratelli. “It’ll go where it goes.” The mop-haired frontman, who masterminded The Fratellis’ irresistible rise from rank outsiders on Glasgow’s backstreets to million-selling chart phenomenon, is playing his cards close to his chest. But there’s no mistaking the sense of excitement in the air. After an extended lay-off, Jon is back together with bandmates Mince and Barry. And they’re ready to reignite their brand of five-star rock’n’roll rowdiness all over again.
Earlier this year, after reuniting for a benefit concert in memory of teenage fan Eilidh Brown, the three bandmates discovered their extraordinary chemistry was still alive and well and firing on all cylinders. “There’s something about the feeling when the three of us play together,” admits Jon, “that’s very special.”
So, following a set at this year’s Loopallu Festival, The Fratellis will be climbing back aboard the tourbus for the following shows.
September 21 – Loopallu, Ullapool
September 22 – Academy, Oxford
September 23– Leadmill, Sheffield
September 24 – Academy, Leicester
September 26 – O2 ABC, Glasgow
