Festival season is under way and at the end of the July, a 16th century manor is to once again become the host of independent music festival with a twist, Standon Calling.
Between 31st July – 2nd August Standon Calling will be putting together its unique blend of live music, camping and family fun together to host the popular event. Now in its tenth year and described by its creators as ‘more than just a music festival’, Standon Calling offers a blend of fantastic musicians and weird, yet wonderful activities.
Set across the grounds of a 16th century manor, Standon Calling began as a barbeque and a party with just a few friends. However ten years later and the event has become a event in the festival calendar providing something for everyone – plus it’s also the only music festival in the country to have its own heated pool!
Previous festival acts have included the likes of Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons and Paloma Faith. This year the line-up does not disappoint, featuring headliners: Little Dragon, an exclusive set from the Dandy Warhols and Basement Jaxx will also be entertaining the crowds.
Also taking to the stage over the weekend are Lucy Spraggan, Slaves, Maddox, Hercules & Love Affair, The Antlers, The Black Delta Movement and The Magic Numbers.
For the first time ever Standon Calling will also be teaming up with BBC Introducing, who will be bringing some carefully selected and incredible acts to perform on Saturday’s ‘famous Last Dance Saloon Stage’. The acts include Amber Run, Nova Twins, Attaque, Longey , Alice Walker, Kimberley Newell, Youth Club, Natasha North and finally Club de Fromage vs. Coffin Dodgers Disco.
Of course part of the charm of Standon Calling is its offer of weird and wonderful activities, including a circus skills workshop, pop-up family theatre, storytelling, a wild west disco and much, much more.
